It’s never just a job to us

We are proud to be official providers of Australia’s most successful employment programs and services, including Workforce Australia, Disability Employment Services (DES) and ParentsNext, all geared to give you the structure and support you need to find a job.

Your individual circumstances will determine which of these programs is best for you, however, in all our programs we offer guidance with writing resumes and cover letters, job coaching, free training, and access to unadvertised jobs.

Unlike many other employment providers, we are not-for-profit, meaning our focus is 100% on you, the job seeker, and how we can support our communities through employment. Our operational profits are returned to The Salvation Army, where this funding is used to help everyday Australians going through tough times.

Preparing for your initial interview with Employment Plus

Once your initial interview appointment time is confirmed by one of our Employment Plus consultants you will have the opportunity to fill out a pre-employment survey. This survey is a series of questions to outline your circumstances, so we can direct you to the right help for your circumstances. While you can complete the survey at any Employment Plus office, most people prefer to fill it in at home ahead of their appointment.

Your pre-employment survey will help us to assess your employment needs, clarify areas where we can offer you employment support and guidance, and review your job plan with you.

• How do I register with Employment Plus?

  You'll find everything you need to know on our How to get started page.

• What happens after my initial appointment?

  If you are all set and ready to begin active job hunting, we start contacting employers on your behalf, while you start searching independently.
  

  During this time, you’ll meet with your Employment Plus consultant regularly, so that everyone is kept up to date with the progress of your job search.

  Remember, we’re not here to do the hard work for you. We want to support and empower you, to create your own opportunities.

• What if I need a little extra support?

  We understand that whilst a job is important, everyone’s journey to employment is different.

  That’s why we work closely with our in-house Allied Health team to provide support and assistance to help you remain positive, manage challenges and move toward a happier and healthier life.

  As an Employment Plus job seeker, you have access to free group and individual counselling, as well as training, courses, and assistance with preparing your resume and cover letters. We can even help cover the cost of purchasing interview clothing.

  Then, once we find you a job, we may be able to help with necessary things that you may need, such as uniforms, fuel and safety equipment.
  

  It’s all part of our commitment to settle you in, and then set you up for success.

• How do I know what my obligations are for Centrelink?

  Your Employment Plus consultant will make sure you are aware of all your official obligations in your initial interview, but if you're unsure, all your Centrelink reporting requirements are listed in your Workforce Australia account, which you can access via the Centrelink app, or Workforce Australia section of your MyGov account.

  For any questions concerning your payments or Centrelink, you'll need to contact Centrelink directly, by phone during business hours on 132 850, or online via the Centrelink app.
  

  If you're struggling to find the answers you need, you can also contact us during business hours on 136 123 (8:30–5:00 AEST, Monday to Friday) and we will do our best to help.

• How many jobs do you have on your books?

  Our team are actively pursuing job vacancies all the time - from contacting large corporations and working directly with industry leaders, to liaising at a government level, we are constantly on the lookout for new employment opportunities to offer our job seekers. In addition to this we have a large number of employers who contact us independently to place vacancies, meaning there are always new positions being added to our books. • How do I know when my next appointment is?

  If you're unsure, you can call our Employment Plus National Service Centre during business hours on 136 123, and we will be able to verify your upcoming appointments.
  

• Can you help me with my resume / cover letters / interview preparation?

  Absolutely! Speak with your Employment Plus consultant about this and they will be able to help you with cover letters, marketing letters and interview skills. You can also check out our great range of Free training courses available online here.

• Where can I find more information about job hunting?

  There is a wealth of information and resources here on our website under Job Seeker Resources.

• What happens when I get a job?

  At Employment Plus, our help doesn't stop once you get a job. We continue to liaise with you, and your employer, for as long as it takes to ensure you are all settled in and everything's going smoothly for both of you. If there are any problems or you're unhappy in your new role, we will do everything we can to help resolve the situation.
