Fee free courses at TAFE are available to any Australian citizen, permanent resident or New Zealand citizen regardless of prior skills and qualifications.

You can do your first free TAFE course in any occupational field - no matter what qualifications you already hold. And, where available, you can do multiple free TAFE courses within the same occupational field listed in certain priority industries.

Sound too good to be true? It’s not. Australia is in desperate need of good workers in some key ‘high priority’ areas. So, they’re incentivising people to make career shifts by offering great education and respected qualifications accessible at no-cost.

This means that perhaps the best thing about the fee free courses offered at TAFEs – after learning great skills, making new friends and enjoying that ‘starting a new chapter’ feeling – is that there will be good job opportunities out the other side.

Courses on offer differ between states but some of the high priority industries where free training is available include: early childhood education, construction and infrastructure, health, community services, disability services, agriculture, hospitality and professional services.
