Driconeq is an international business known for developing, producing and distributing drilling equipment. With over 40 years of experience in the business and a steadfast reputation as an industry leader, Driconeq is competitive, reliable, knowledgeable – and is a business that understands how important employee health is. By taking the step of working with Employment Plus Allied Heath, Driconeq have been working to promote and maintain good mental health in their employees, improving employee-organisational performance, absenteeism and morale.
Getting the wheels turning on improving the health of Driconeq’s employees was simple. “Karen Moore, the General Manager of Driconeq, came to us wanting to build an Employee Wellness Program that workers could use as a supportive tool – something that would increase mental resilience – that would teach workers the skills they need to improve mental health”, said Kelvin Lee, Allied Health Senior Psychologist.
“Employment Plus Allied Health are a qualified team of health professionals with a clear understanding of workplace needs in terms of staff wellbeing, helping you find and retain healthy, happy and positive staff,” said Kelvin. “We knew how to help.”
Kelvin and National Manager of Employment Plus Allied Health, Melanie Armstrong, met with Karen for a chat about Driconeq’s culture, taking time to understand the organisation’s expectations and requirements. “We took the time to tailor a package that suited Driconeq’s needs. Every organisation has different requirements – we accommodate these to build the best possible program for an organisation,” said Kelvin.
So, what is an Employee Wellness Program? It is a work-based intervention program designed to enhance the emotional, mental and general psychological wellbeing of employees. The aim of the program is to provide preventive and proactive interventions for the early detection, identification and/or resolution of both work and personal problems that may adversely affect performance and wellbeing. These problems and issues may include, but are not limited to, relationships, health, trauma, substance abuse, gambling and other addictions, financial problems, depression, anxiety disorders, psychiatric disorders, communication problems, legal issues and coping with change.
Benefits of improving workplace health
- Lower absenteeism and improved worker turnover
- Improved workplace satisfaction
- Improved morale and attitude to work by employees
- Avoid breaching health and safety laws, avoiding litigation and fines and industrial disputes
In summary? An Employee Wellness Program can not only assist and help your employees – you will also be impacting your bottom line.
General Manager of Driconeq, Karen Moore, has been very satisfied with the implementation of the Employee Wellness Program. “[Employment Plus Allied Health’s] relaxed, interactive presentations with a predominantly male workforce have highlighted common sense strategies to cope with today’s competing demands, from dealing with loneliness to embracing differences in our multicultural society”, she said. “They have also proved to be a valuable sounding board for me as General Manager”, she continued.
